Why does Meraki licence renewal need lead time?
Every Meraki device needs a valid licence. After expiry, a 30-day grace period starts. After the grace period, the organisation may stop passing client traffic. You need time for the quote, internal approval, the purchase order and licence activation.
What should you decide before a Meraki licence renewal?
Like-for-like or true-up. Add new devices and remove retired ones from the count.
Term. Common terms are 1, 3 or 5 years.
Tier. For example, change MX from Enterprise to Advanced Security if you need content filtering.
Old hardware. Do not renew a device for five years if its end-of-support date is sooner.
Type. Check if a subscription model works better for your organisation.
